Digital Paintings

The digital paintings I created for my previous released games, books, magazines, and private clients, and some are my personal works. Currently, I am holding weekly concept art and master drawing workshops to share my experience and knowledge with people who are looking for a breakthrough in the games and visual design industry.

Fantasy Medieval Port This imaginary concept art is for a commission. I am trying to capture the strong sun light and heat in a busy Moroccan port. Artrage only.	Finding the Secret Path The path finder, one of the 5 commission concept and mood art for a movie with publisher based in the States.
Rome Fantasy The Photoshop and Artrage combined painting depicts a typical fantasy Rome scene with busy and atmospheric view. Not based on historical facts.	Jing Wu Road The place I spent most of my childhood with my grandma and aunt in early 80's. Very poor but joyful times. Now it's the most modern part of the city centre. Artrage and Photoshop.	Merriment of Harvest Merriment of Summer, by Artrage only.A revised version of a painting for my client, removed all the animals and figures, it's an imaginary piece.
Walk in the Martyr Park Based on my draft sketch in the Martyr park in Changsha, the painting depicts my a Monk going for fishing alone a trail in the woods, with the wooden Chinese houses around him in early spring. All Artrage.	Elm Hill Fight Elm Hill, the place I work and love. I painted this fantasy scene based on memory and life sketch, created a imaginary fight between two knights. All by Artrage. Samurai The Photoshop painted samurai was inspired by my previous game project, "Shogun TotalWar", it's based on my loose imaginary sketch a few years ago. JiuFen Fantasy The imaginative fantasy painting of Jiufen, Taiwan, based on my draft drawing in 2011.	Mom and Me My mom watching me working and painting, almost every night, she sat on her stool and looked at me painting stuff when she was here. I finished this piece in ArtRage for the good times and memory we had.	Rome Warrior Soldier of Rome, based on my original pen drawing, painted with Artrage. I enjoy to paint this one with a bit more traditional method.
Sunset Istanbul The painter and photoshop combined painting is loosely based on my life sketch in Istanbul during a trip in 2012, unforgetable place. The entire painting took 3 working days.	Empire Collapse One of the digital paintings I did in photoshop, mainly for our project Empire Total War at the time.	Raining night in Breda The raining night in Breda, by Artrage.
Uncle and Aunt The portrait of my uncle and aunt, I was brought up by them, I promised to paint this for them, life sketch plus reference they provided.	Falaise The ArtRage painting depicts the intense battle in Falaise pocket in France, American soldiers carefully approaching the burning wreckage of a Pz IV J tank. I manage to create a low key lighting with subtle shadow.	Dumnoen Saduak floating market Here it comes, the vivid colour impression from Dumnoen Saduak floating market in Thailand.
Fallen Mate British infantry and paratrooper in trench, using artrage only. Based on my black and white sketch in 2006. I also made a 3D version of it.	Surviver A friend's Christmas present for his grandad who served at the front line in the US army during WW2 in 1944, his jeep blew off by a mine and all other fellow crew were killed, his granddad was the lone survive, all with Artrage.	Jamie in Ballet Dress Based on my life drawing session with further development in Artrage and Photoshop. I enhanced the lighting and colour.
Temple of Heaven This is a photoshop and Artrage combined painting, depicts the road to temple of heaven in Tibet, the painting is based on imaginative world.	The Lost World The Artrage and Photoshop combined fantasy painting depicts a defeated gundam lost in the forest. Humans discovered him and trying to fix the giant, the scene is inspired by scale model show.	Phoenix town Phoenix town, all Artrage painting, I enjoyed this one immensely, experimented with a lot of different brushes and settings in this wonderful little software. For my family.
Horsham In early winter of Horsham, the small English town I use to live and work, I made a quick sketch in the cold field and finished with Artrage and Photoshop.	30's America Initially a demo I did in photoshop at Norwich University of Arts, Media lab1, showed the students how to composite, use light and create mood. Later I use Artrage tweaked and polished the painting to give it a look of impressionism.	Downfall Berlin Sturmtiger knocked out in Berlin street, 1945. The destroyed Berliner Dom in blaze provides the backdrop.
London Downfall Inspired by the sunset walk along river Thames, I created this sci-fi concept art with Photoshop, title: London Downfall. This piece is published by a London based publisher in a Sci-Fi novel call "Dystopia".	Drop Zone The Artrage and Photoshop combined painting depicts operation Market Garden in 1944, Western Front. This piece is a splash screen for a free to play WWII game.	The Bardic College The Bardic college in fantasy. Added few more figures, tweaked many details with Norwich castle and cathedral, I kept the distance loose without disturbing the focus. All Artrage.
NordWind One of my new paintings, still a lot of work to do, inspired by the great Norfolk landscape artist. You could see the gun which I made in maya in the foreground. The background of the painting is operation Nordwind.	Tiger Attack Tiger attack, another combination of Painter and Artrage, tried to use more rough and bord brush style.	Gift for a friend Well, it's nearly Christmas, so I decided to give this painting a bit more warm feeling, with Christmas tree and presents boxes, snow flakes, a lot more cheerful, All with ArtRage .
Emergency Landing Crash landing in Solomon islands. One of my favorite fighter of all time the "Zero" and also inspired by the movie "The Eternal Zero". Painted with Artrage, almost completely changed my original contents from an early draft sketch.	Kandy Sri Lanka The colourful Kandy street in Sri Lanka, based on my colour pencil life drawing back in 2012, finished with ArtRage and colour pencil. I had some great memories there.
